Is Texas Changing its Political Ideology?

As I was planning what to cover this week for The Healthy News, something happened in this country. No, I am not going to discuss the riots at the US Capitol. I want to talk about the major tech companies’ responses and their implications for Texas and the tech industry as a whole.

Starting late last week, many major technology companies began to take action against what they saw as incitement of violent behavior on their platform. Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and many others banned Donald Trump from using their platforms. Apple, Google, and Amazon stopped supporting the social media app Parlor for not implementing a moderation tool within the app. Conservatives on all sides of the spectrum took these actions as a direct attack against conservatives having a voice in big tech.

So why am I talking about this on a website dedicated to news about Texas? As we discussed last week, Texas is slowly gaining the lead over Silicon Valley over housing the tech industry. We also know that when these tech companies migrate to Texas, they also bring their more progressive line of thinking. Texas is currently on the fence regarding political ideology, with even the slightest breeze sending them in a different direction.

In the coming days, we will go over the possibility of Texas expanding the reach of a more progressive tech industry and the impact that would have on conservative values. We will also look into the idea that a growing tech industry in Texas could push the industry into the middle allowing more opportunities for conservatives to find their home in the online community.
