How the california migration stands to benefit texas

It is no secret that the state of Texas is rapidly expanding. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Texas is leading the nation for the fastest-growing cities. Five of the top ten fastest-growing cities in America belong to Texas. Among all the states making the migration, California leads the pack by far. Why are so many people from California making a move to Texas? Also, what are the benefits of so many people moving to the state of Texas? This article will take a deep dive into why Californians are making the migration to Texas. We will also discuss the benefits that come from Texas receiving a considerable boost in population.
The Benefits of Moving to Texas
The biggest motivation to move to Texas from states like California is the growing technology market. As discussed in the previous article, more and more technology companies are deciding to move from California to Texas. Companies like Apple, Google, and Oracle have already moved significant operations to the state of Texas. Tesla, SpaceX, and Hewlett Packard announced that they would move their headquarters from California to Texas within the coming year.
Mark Calvey, a renowned business journalist for the San Francisco Business Times, believes this is just the beginning. Giving an interview for ABC News in Austin, Mr. Calvey discusses what he believes will happen next. Mark Calvey noted that as the state income tax in California continues to rise, it is projected to grow to 16.8% by the end of 2021, more and more technology firms will move from California to Texas, where there is no state income tax.
What Does this Mean for the State of Texas?
First off, the mass migration of technology firms to Texas will hugely bolster the state’s economy. With the move of Tesla, SpaceX, and HP, it is expected that over 5,000 tech-related jobs will be added to the economy. This number doesn’t include the thousands of people already working for Google, Apple, and Oracle.
Also, Texas will receive a massive boost of young, intelligent, and dedicated citizens. The millennial generation denominates technology. These young workers are more likely to start up a business than the previous generation. It is because of this that Dallas was just named the start-up capital of the world.
Finally, with the rise of a younger generation in Texas, we will see a more environmental, political, and socially progressive population. We already see this trend playing out all over the state. The cities of Dallas, Austin, San Antonio, and Houston have all flipped blue in the last decade.
Tomorrow we will go over the negative impacts of having a massive migration from California to Texas will have on the culture and political landscape.
