Biden Administration to Introduce Immigration Bill Designed to Lead to Citizenship for 1.7 Million Texans

The topic of illegal immigration is a hot topic issue for many States. A majority of Americans want to see significant reform in our immigration system. According to Texan officials, more than 1.7 million illegal immigrants are currently sitting in limbo waiting to receive a green card, work visa, or citizenship.

President-elect Joe Biden, making good on a campaign promise, announced that he would introduce a sweeping reform bill for the American immigration system on his first day in office. This new immigration bill will provide a clear path for the millions of illegal immigrants in states like Texas to gain citizenship.

For an immigrant to take part in the new system, they first apply. Once they have applied, the entire process will take eight years. If an immigrant remains a productive part of society with a clean legal record for five years, they can apply for a green card. After receiving a green card, an immigrant must then wait another three years before applying for full citizenship.

This new immigration bill is expected to pass congress with no issues since the Democrats control both chambers.

Immigration is a complicated issue. Only time will tell if the latest bill is the solution needed in states like Texas.
