Dallas Participates in Nation Wide Remembrance of COVID-19 Victims

This week marked a grim milestone for the COVID-19 pandemic in America.  Over the past year, over 400,000 lives were lost to the deadly pandemic.

To honor those that had died, the incoming President Joe Biden scheduled a night of remembrance on January 19. The event kicked off with a candlelight vidual at the Washington Mall. President Biden then gave a speech focused on remembering and moving forward.

Hundreds of cities across all 50 states in America decided to participate in the ceremony. In the city of Dallas, all the lights of downtown shun amber to honor those that had died.

Texas, like many other states, has suffered a great deal at the hands of COVID-19. As of January 20th, over 30,000 people have died due to COVID-19. In cities like Dallas, many gathered downtown to honor the over 1,800 lives lost in the city.

Moving forward, there is a lot to be grateful for. Both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccine are ramping up production. Additionally, the CDC is expected to grant emergency use of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at the end of the month.

President Joe Biden speaking with reporters, announced that with the distribution of three vaccines, America could hope to return to normal by the end of the Summer.
